Bruxism and Night Guards
Bruxism is one of the most common known sleep disorders and causes most of its damage during sleeping hours. This disorder puts undue strain on the temporomandibular joints. Earache, depression, headaches, eating disorders and anxiety are amongst the most common symptoms of bruxism.
Treatment options for bruxism:
A professionally made Nightguard by a dentist is the first step in resolving Bruxism. The Nightguard is designed from tooth impressions to minimize the abrasive action of tooth surfaces during normal sleep.
If a Nightguard did not resolve the symptoms a referral to a specialist might become necessary.
Our Dentists at our Mission Dental office, BridgeView Dental Health Clinic, are experts in diagnosing and examining patients with bruxism and tooth grinding. Once the diagnosis is done, appropriate steps are taken to treat the patient which usually starts by fabricating a night guard.
Crown (Caps), Bridge and Dentures
- A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.
- A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance and is an excellent way to replace missing teeth.
- A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.
Our Mission dentists at BridgeView Dental Health Clinic will spend the time to discuss your different treatment options and will work with you to provide the best possible treatment.
